In a significant step toward educational access in Somalia, CONHA officially opened the doors to a new primary school in the Hiran region this week. The school will serve children from internally displaced families who have been without formal education facilities for years.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by community leaders, parents, and local authorities. "This school represents hope for our children's future," said community elder Mohamed Abdi. "For the first time in years, our children have a safe place to learn and grow."

The school includes eight classrooms, a library, and separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls. All teachers have received specialized training in trauma-informed education to support children who have experienced displacement.

This initiative is part of CONHA's broader Education First program, which aims to increase school enrollment and improve educational outcomes across Somalia. The organization plans to construct two more schools in neighboring regions by mid-2024.
